Arkell Best Bitter is one of their crowning achievements. Even as you pour, the distinct aroma of the British hops greets your nose. The deep amber tone is the colour of scotch whisky, and the head is a pale cream colour. Arkell's bittering hops are noticable, but the sweetness of three malts mellows the taste to a dry fruitiness. The flavour of the finishing hops remains on the palate even after you swallow.
As trite as it sounds to suggest an English style bitter be served with British pub grub, this beer will well complement a rich meal of roast beef with yorkshire pudding, or a hearty stew.
Available in bottles from the beer store, or on tap at better bars. Selected bars sell a cask-conditioned version that shows what a fresh, "real ale" should be.
