The beer was first brewed in 1965. The original brewery was "Sollefteå bryggeri". The beer was local in the beginning. 1970 the production moved to "Wårby bryggeri" which began to advertise it. 1989 was "Wårby bryggeri" bought by "Spendrups" which is a great producer of beer and softdrinks in Sweden. They made "Norrlands Guld" to the great beer it is today. 1996 it was the most sold beer in Sweden.
