Every year since 1975, Anchor Brewing Company has produced a "Christmas Ale," which is available in extremely limited quantities between Thanksgiving and New Year's. Each year features a new label and a new recipe.
Our ale varies in taste and color every year due to different combinations of malt, hops, and yeast. This traditional ale is brewed with only malted barley, fresh whole hops and a top-fermenting yeast. Fresh hops are added to the aging tanks, a process known as "dry-hopping," which is rarely used today in this country. The hops produce a slightly bitter taste — the hallmark of a fine ale.
