A Bitter is normally a British-style "session beer." Usually an ale, a bitter is not all that bitter. A pale ale is more bitter. This beer is described as a "bitter lager" in Wikipedia. This is not a sweet lager that can be replaced by one of hundreds of similarly dumb beers; it has a real flavour that is reminiscent of British Bitters. Very yummy beer.
