Originally the Clan Chiefs bearer, who stood behind him in battle, The Ghillie today is a much respected, pithy character who guides sportsmen of the world on the salmon and trout rivers of Scotland.

One of the most famous of these, the river Tweed, has its source a few miles from the village of Broughton and winds its way over 100 miles through the beautiful border countryside of Scotland.

The Ghillie is renowned for his skill and expertise, and we believe that as much care has gone into the creation of this fine ale as The Ghillie uses to stalk and land salmon from the beautiful river Tweed.

The Ghillie is in the category of a Premium Bitter and is a rich, light copper coloured ale with a full malty flavour offset by citrus and spicy notes derived from the distinctive hop used for late copper addition.

At 4.5% ABV it is a beer to enjoy after a days fishing or at any other time.

Major ingredients are:

Maris Otter Malt and Crystal Malt.

Hops used are English grown Fuggles and Goldings, Target.

with German Hallertau Brewers Gold as a late copper aroma hop.
